One thing I have noticed is that these seats are really deep and my three year olds feet, in particular, don't hang over the edge; instead the mud he will invariably plaster himself in will give our new fabric a real hint of safari. I think we need one of those fitted plastic covers the Americans seem to love for their sofas - I never have really worked that one out!
Under the seat you will also notice a black steel gas bottle locker, bought from GT Campers. Dan (at vw-interiors) fitted this for a small labour charge; I can't bring myself to drill holes in her myself.
I just need to finish off the rest of the insulation and carpeting...
Hi,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, looking forward to the next instalment :-)
A quick question (or two) if I may
From the looks of the computer generated images you look to have the std style run of furniture down the drivers side of the van and the RIB seat on the other. Is it a double?? or a triple seat, it looks bigger than a std double and im sure I can see 3 seat belts but i thought a triple went full width across the van, meaning you couldn't have any furniture down the side, only a small pod behind the drivers seat. ??
Do you plan on doing the furniture yourself? or do you have a company in mind?
I am following with interest as i am looking to convert one myself. With the plan being to use it as an every day people carrier for me the wife and our 3 kids then a camper for weekends away and add an awning for longer trips in the summer. The youngest is only 3 and still very petite so she will be fine in one of those hammock style cab beds for a few years, by which time the eldest will be too old to want to come away with mum and dad. I imagine it will be a bit of a squeeze but still plenty of fun. I don't really want to go with a LWB as i think its just too big for every day use (school run, tesco carpark etc) plus im not sure i like the look of it as much
Folding double up front or 2 captain style seats?

Phil
